Frequently Asked Questions

Is counselling for me?

If you are reading this you are interested, which is the first and possibly biggest step. Support in the form of therapy is sought in all kinds of situations; it may be you want to make sense of your self or embark on self development, perhaps you want to explore strategies to help cope with a crisis or maybe change patterns of behaviour.  These are just a few examples of where therapy can help.

How does a session work?

We are all individual so each session is tailored to you and we will agree the type of therapy that works best for you. It is your time and we will discuss any thoughts, feelings, and experiences that you want to – we may also look at events from the past and those likely in the future which are impacting you.

Counselling is a safe and confidential space and you may want use it to clarify your thoughts and feelings around anything that is on your mind and as a way to move forward.

How long does a session last?

An individual session is 50 minutes with couples and families slightly longer at 60 minutes

Where is the session held?

I have a comfortable practice room in a quiet location between Melton Mowbray & Sileby. There are great transport links and I can be in Leicester or Nottingham City centre in under half an hour. There is plenty of parking on a private driveway.

I am nervous to get started can I speak to you first?

Yes of course, many clients feel nerves before starting, I am happy for a call by way of introduction and to answer any initial questions you may have.

How many sessions will I need?

This entirely depends on you and we can agree together how many sessions and/or undertake regular reviews, which ever you are most comfortable with.

Are you qualified?

Yes, I am fully qualified and a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psycotherapy (bacp)
